London – Heathrow Airport (LHR)

There are several public transport options to get you into the centre of London. The Heathrow Express train takes just 15 minutes to travel directly from Paddington Station to the airport, and it departs every 15 minutes, so this is the fastest option. The Heathrow Connect train departs every 30 minutes and stops at several stations on the way, meaning the journey time is at least twice as long. Local buses and private companies such as National Express also run services into London and to other destinations, but these take longer. If you prefer to travel in one of London’s famous black cabs, this is likely to take 30 to 60 minutes (depending on traffic) and could cost anywhere between GBP 50-90.

Birmingham – Birmingham Airport (BHX)

Two trains run each hour to Birmingham International Station from Birmingham New Street Station, in the city centre. When you arrive at the airport you’ll need to take a 2-minute ride to the terminal on the Air-Rail Link monorail. Alternatively, bus lines X1, 966, 97/97A, 75/75A and 91 all run to the airport from various parts of the city.
